Aptech Africa Corporate Responsibility Policy
Aptech Africa has the responsibility to provide energy services to Africa in a way that respects the dignity of all employees, beneficiaries, and the world as a whole. Aptech Africa considers all of these aspects as it works to implement its efforts to bring clean, renewable energy to Africa.
Our company aims to be a responsible business that meets the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. It will consider all aspects and interested parties before acting.
Our company’s social responsibility falls under two categories: compliance and proactiveness. Compliance refers to our company’s commitment to legality and willingness to observe community values. Proactiveness is every initiative to promote human rights, help communities and protect our natural environment.
We’ll adhere to legal guidelines for safety and fair dealing. Every partnership and collaboration will be open and transparent. Business value and financial benefits will result only from legitimate business operations. We’ll always respect the Law including anti-bribery and anti-corruption practices. Our company is also committed to always honor its internal policies.
We’ll always conduct business with integrity and respect to human rights. We’ll establish appropriate policies and procedures to promote good business ethics. Examples are respect towards the consumer, ethical corporate governance and anti-corruption practices. Our company will follow society’s ethical expectations.
Protecting the environment
Our company recognizes the need to protect the natural environment. Keeping our environment clean and unpolluted is a benefit to all. We’ll always follow best practices when disposing garbage and using chemical substances. In addition, Aptech Africa strives to provide energy systems that leave the smallest carbon print possible and makes it part of its mission to make solar energy the leading source of energy for all of Africa.
We’ll ensure that we don’t risk the health and safety of our employees and community. We’ll also avoid harming the lives of local people. We’ll support diversity, especially making efforts for gender equality in the workplace and we will work to help preserve important cultural elements.
Our company is dedicated to protecting human rights. It’s a committed equal opportunity employer and will incorporate all fair labor practices. It’ll ensure that its activities do not directly or indirectly violate human rights in any country (e.g. forced labor).
Donations and Aid
Our company preserves a budget to make monetary and in-kind donations to give back to the local community. Aptech Africa gives back to communities by donating solar systems to those in need. They also give monetary donations to support local cultural projects.
Our company will encourage its employees to volunteer. They can volunteer though programs internally or externally organized. Our company may sponsor volunteering events from other organizations.
Preserving the environment
Apart from legal obligations, our company may be proactive in protecting the environment. Aptech Africa strives to use the most environmentally-friendly technologies in all of its work and does its best to implement projects that protect the environment and save energy.
Supporting the community
Aptech Africa is working to give back to the community in many ways. First of all it is donating and installing a complete solar system at Miryante Orphans Home. This will provide light and electrical services for children who are orphaned and vulnerable.
Secondly, Aptech Africa recognizes that gender equality is needed, especially in Engineering and especially in Africa. Aptech Africa encourages female engineers to apply to positions within the company. It is also planning a scholarship for young women in the year 2017, to encourage women to enter the field of engineering.
Our company will actively invest in R&D. We’ll be open to suggestions and listen carefully to ideas. Our company will try to continuously improve the way it operates.
Our company is committed to the United Nations Global Compact. It’ll readily act to promote its identity as a socially aware and responsible business. Management must ensure that this policy is communicated at all levels. Managers are also responsible to resolve any CSR issues.
Miryante Orphans Home CSR Project in Uganda:
Aptech Africa repaired all solar systems at Miryante Orphans Home as well as donated a 520W complete solar system to the Home to provide lighting and charging for the entire campus. This project is servicing over 150 orphans and vulnerable children living in Western Uganda.
Aptech Africa's Women's Empowerment Program
Aptech Africa is proud to support women in the workforce, especially in the field of science and technology. As part of their CSR project, Aptech is sponsoring Judith Nanziri. Judith is studying to be an electrical technician at Nakawa Vocational Training Institute in Kampala, Uganda. She has aspirations of continuing her education to become an engineer. Aptech is excited to be sponsoring her and training her as part of their team.
