Solar Applications

  • Energy Storage System at Eye Radio, Juba, South Sudan
  • Street Lights in Paoua, Central African Republic
  • Street Lights in Lamwo, Uganda
  • Solar for a hospital in Liberia

Aptech Africa, a solar energy and water solution specialist, recently successfully designed, built and installed the first off-grid solar-battery-hybrid power system in South Sudan. This USAID funded project, developed by AECOM International, incorporated a one-of-a-kind containerized PV storage solution by SustainSolar.

The CAR office is lighting up Paoua, Central African Republic with 60 solar powered street lights of 180W each. Street lights bring security and safety to the areas where they are installed.

Aptech through LWF is working to bring safety and security to refugee camps in Lamwo District. Aptech installed 21 street lights of 60W, bringing safety and security to schools, health centers, and police stations within the district

Aptech installed a 10KVA system in Liberia for a hospital

  • PV installation for FAO in South Sudan
  • UNOPS Minigrid Project in Sierra Leone
  • UNDP Juba PV Installation
  • Hybrid Solar/wind Street Light Installation Project for KCC, Kampala, Uganda

Aptech was awarded the contract from UNOPS to install complete PV Solar Power Systems for Teacher Training Institutes in the towns of Rombur, Maridi, Maper, and Rumbek in South Sudan. Aptech Africa used lithium ion batteries and Schneider inverters to install the system.

Aptech Africa installed a total of 64 KW in Juba for the Prison, Ministry of Justice, and Judiciary. This project was funded by UNDP.

Aptech Africa installed a hybrid solar/wind street light for KCC in one of the busiest intersections in Kampala.

Water Applications

  • Tambura Project in the Western Equatorial State of South Sudan

Aptech Africa Ltd, a solar energy and water pumping company headquartered in Kampala, Uganda, recently designed, built and installed a 59 KW solar powered water pumping project in Kikuube District, Uganda. This Lutheran World Federation implemented and USA Government funded project, incorporated a Grundfos water pump and inverter with Soleil Power panels.
This system has the capacity to pump 32,000 liters of water per hour, and has two 218,000 liter tanks that deliver water 3.8 kilometers to service 25,000 people within the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement.

Solar Applications

Aptech Juba constructed two solarized boreholes in Kor William, Juba. It is a 5,000W system serving over 12,000 people.

Aptech Africa was contracted by the South Sudanese government to install 3 PV solar power water pumps at different locations near Rumbek Town, South Sudan. Hollandia monocrystalline solar panels were installed with Grundfos water pumps and Grundfos RSI water pump inverters. The total power generated was 27 KW.

The Aptech Sierra Leone office also worked to install 1,500W water pumping systems in 19 villages all across Sierra Leone for World Vision

Aptech has successfully commissioned a solar powered irrigation system for five sites in Warrap, Tonj County, South Sudan. Each site has a 1.4 KW system with a pump capacity of 20,000 lpd, irrigating one acre of vegetables per site.

Time and time again, Aptech Africa has been the company of choice that major. NGOs, governments, businesses, and communities have trusted to design and install quality solar systems. The following are some of the organizations that Aptech has partnered with in the past. These are in no way comprehensive, but give a testimony to the scope of the work that Aptech has successfully carried out in the region.
