Aptech Africa recently completed the installation of 149 stand-alone solar street lamps across residential compounds in Juba, South Sudan.
These systems are fully independent solar lighting units designed to operate without grid connection or additional power sources. The solar lamps deliver reliable night-time lighting throughout the compounds, improving movement, visibility, and overall comfort for residents and visitors.
This project was initiated to address a simple but critical need: eliminating darkness in key residential areas. Lack of lighting in the compound presented security challenges and limited mobility after sunset. By deploying high-quality solar street lamps across three sites, Aptech Africa provided a sustainable solution that supports a safer environment and reduces reliance on conventional energy.
The impact of the new solar lighting system is immediately visible. Enhanced illumination significantly improves security, safety, and night-time operations within the compounds. This upgrade introduces modern solar technology to local infrastructure, helping raise standards of community lighting in Juba. Most importantly, it benefits a large number of residents and staff, creating a safer and more welcoming environment after dark — all while operating cleanly, quietly, and sustainably.
