Aptech Africa Sparks Sustainable Farming with Solar Energy in Uganda

Aptech Africa Ltd successfully completed the supply and installation of two solar-powered irrigation systems in Yumbe District, Uganda, reinforcing its commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions that support agricultural development and community resilience.

The project features two stand-alone, movable (mobile) solar-powered irrigation systems with a total capacity of 1,000 kWp, equipped with Sunlight Pump JSPBL0.3/HF 2.4-5 technology for efficient and reliable water pumping.

Designed to operate independently without battery storage or hybrid generation, the systems make optimal use of the area’s high solar irradiance, ensuring continuous irrigation throughout the year.

Located in Yumbe District, the project benefits community horticulture enterprises and tree planters, particularly those involved in cocoa and horticultural farming. The site was strategically selected to promote sustainable farming practices and tree planting, both of which contribute to environmental protection and economic empowerment.

Reliable solar power at the site ensures that water pumps can consistently support irrigation needs, improving crop productivity and resilience to dry seasons. Aptech Africa’s dedicated team ensured timely completion and exceeded expectations through the use of quality technology and expert installation.

The project is expected to benefit over 1,000 people, enhancing food security, promoting economic growth, and supporting the livelihoods of local farmers. Through initiatives like this, Aptech Africa continues to demonstrate its leadership in providing innovative renewable energy solutions that drive sustainable development across Africa
