Installation of Solar Street Lights in Cameroon

Cameroon, like many countries in sub-Saharan Africa, faces significant challenges in providing consistent and reliable electricity to all its regions. Many urban and rural communities are left without adequate street lighting, creating safety risks, limiting social activities after dark, and hindering local economies. In areas where the power grid is unreliable or non-existent, the lack of street lighting makes it difficult for residents to move around safely, and businesses to operate efficiently during evening hours.

Aptech Africa Ltd- Central African Republic supplied and installed 300 solar street lights for lighting in the localities of Bargueram, Fotokol, Souarem, Hile Alifa, Sagmé, Kerawa, kolofata, and Gréa in Cameroon. The street lights comprised of 600 solar modules of 180wp, 600 charge controllers, 600 lithium- ion batteries of 90wp, 600 Led lamps of 60w and 300 poles of 8m. The installed street lights will benefit Eight (8) communities in Cameroon. This will enhance safety as the well-lit streets discourage criminal activity and reduce the risk of accidents. Residents feel safer walking or commuting at night, knowing that their roads and public spaces are illuminated. Street vendors, small shops, and local businesses can now operate into the evening, providing more opportunities for income generation. This boost to the local economy is vital for job creation and community development. Public spaces like parks, markets, and community centers can now host evening events, allowing people to gather, socialize, and participate in community activities long after the sun sets
