At Aptech Africa, we are committed to advancing women’s participation and leadership in the renewable energy sector, and sharing their success stories. When the barriers that once prevented women from equal access to energy and economic opportunities were removed, significant productivity gains have been realized across the energy industry, and women are now transforming this sector as entrepreneurs, innovators and key decision makers.
Key to note, at Aptech, of the top four C-Suite members i.e., the Metkel Z Abraham (CEO), Laura Corcoran (COO), Anna Karugaba (CTO) & Disha Parekh (CFO), three are females making a whopping 75% of the key decision makers within the company, and as the energy industry faces the urgent need to transform and innovate, a more diverse workforce is a priority.
As Aptech grows in leaps and bounds, we are ensuring a more gender balanced and inclusive environment where women are encouraged to take up any opportunities for growth in their career as we fulfill the global SDGs.
And we believe as noted by the UNEP that female business leaders are better at taking climate into consideration in their business decisions (https://www.unepfi.org/themes/climate-change/gender-climate-and-finance-how-financing-female-led-businesses-can-lead-the-way-to-a-net-zero-future-for-people-and-the-planet/) , this gives Aptech a way to make a significant contribution to Africa and the globe at large as we help thousands access clean energy and water for sustainable development both for today and future generations.
