Enhancing Energy Reliability, Sustainability, and Operational Efficiency

Reliable electricity is essential for modern organizations, particularly those that depend on continuous operations, digital systems, and critical infrastructure. In many parts of Africa, however, power interruptions, fluctuating grid quality, and rising energy costs remain significant challenges.
Aptech Africa successfully designed, installed, and commissioned a 175 kWp hybrid solar power system in Burundi. The project combines solar generation, battery energy storage, grid integration, and generator backup to provide a resilient energy solution capable of supporting the facility’s operational needs around the clock.
The installed system comprises of a 175 kWp Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System, a 215.04 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), Deye Hybrid Inverters, Roof-Mounted Solar Structures, solar carport structures, Generator (Genset) backup, and a remote Monitoring and Data Acquisition System that allows facility managers and technical teams to monitor system performance remotely, identify potential issues early, and make data-driven decisions that enhance operational efficiency.
The installed hybrid system intelligently manages multiple energy sources to ensure continuous operation. During daylight hours, the 175 kWp solar PV array generates clean electricity that directly powers the facility while simultaneously charging the battery energy storage system. The 215.04 kWh battery bank stores excess solar energy for use during evening hours, periods of reduced solar irradiation, or temporary grid interruptions. This stored energy helps maintain stable operations while reducing dependence on external power sources. When additional energy is required, the system seamlessly integrates with the national grid and backup generator, ensuring uninterrupted power supply without affecting critical operations.
The installed system will benefit employees that need to complete all their assignments without interruptions. Reliable electricity has a direct impact on employee productivity, safety, and overall workplace experience. With reliable power available throughout the day, employees can work more effectively without interruptions to essential systems and equipment.
The installation represents a meaningful contribution to environmental sustainability and responsible energy management. By generating electricity from solar energy, this reduces the company’s reliance on conventional energy sources and minimizes its environmental footprint.
Beyond its environmental advantages, the hybrid solar installation delivers substantial economic value. A significant portion of the facility’s electricity demand can now be met through solar generation, reducing dependence on grid electricity and lowering monthly energy expenditures. The battery storage system and solar array also reduce the frequency and duration of generator operation, leading to lower fuel costs and reduced maintenance requirements.
Through innovative engineering and a commitment to quality, Aptech Africa continues to provide renewable energy solutions that help organizations reduce costs, improve performance, and build resilience in an increasingly energy-conscious world as Africa’s demand for reliable and sustainable energy continues to grow.
