APTECH AFRICA INSTALLS AN OFF-GRID SOLAR PV SYSTEM FOR A SECURITY PORT IN SOUTH SUDAN

Aptech Africa recently commissioned an off-grid solar system in Upper Nile State in South Sudan.

The system is comprised of a 2.72 kWp solar system with a 14.4 kWh battery bank of 200Ah Soleil Power Lead Acid AGM deep cycle batteries.

The PV off-grid system used a 3kVA Victron inverter charger which is hybrid and allows for additional power sources like hydroelectricity or generator to be integrated if needed. It’s one of the best inverter brands on the market with several protection measures, rugged design, and efficiency of more than 95%.

The system was also fitted with a Soleil power 145/80A MPPT charge controller which assures maximum output from the solar modules at any time of the day.

Positive socio-economic and environmental impacts from the system.

  • The system will provide the border with a reliable power source to power their servers and operating systems to ensure that they can track illegal activities happening at the border point, thus strengthening security services at the border.
  • The system will help also in increased monthly savings from reduced energy bills and high fuel costs.
  • The system will help to cut carbon emissions, thus contributing to the Climate Action SDG
