The Aptech Africa Uganda office has donated a solar system to the Uganda Women’s Network as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Program.
Uganda Women’s Network serves 12 groups, totaling 759 women in Kyegegwa District. Uganda Women’s Network focuses on providing training to these women in skills such as farming, craft making, and sanitary pads.
The groups of women it serves are from particularly vulnerable backgrounds, including survivors of domestic violence. Many of the women are single and the head of their household and provide care for orphans and vulnerable children who stay with them. The Uganda Women’s Network conducts sensitizations to prevent girls from dropping out of school. It also provides free counseling services.
The solar system that was donated to the organization will be a reliable source of electricity which will allow the NGO’s administrative staff to coordinate its operations and conduct the monitoring and evaluation and submit applications needed to fund its operations.
Aptech Africa Uganda is working to support vulnerable women to have a bright and promising future.
