HYBRID SOLAR SYTEM FOR PUJEHUN DISTRICT COUNCIL IN SIERRA LEONE

Aptech Africa recently designed, supplied, installed and commissioned a hybrid solar system at the Pujehun district council office in Sierra Leone.

The system has a carport mounted 26.4kWp of Soleil Power solar panels and 33.6kWh of battery storage of PylonTech Lithium-Ion batteries integrated with an 80KVA diesel generator supplied by our Aptech team. It also has three 10KVA Victron and two Fronius PV inverters, all high-quality products to ensure the system gives maximum efficiency to our client. The system is hybrid and uses energy from both solar and diesel generator. The system has a remote monitoring system which provides information on energy generation, inverter, weather condition, loading.

Due to the lack of electricity in the area, the solar system will ensure a reliable supply of power and benefit the district as stable power supply increases productivity and motivation among the employees hence contributing greatly to economic growth both of the individuals and the country at large.

Positive social-economic and environmental benefits of these systems

  • Uninterrupted power supply to the District Council Offices from the solar systems installed will help to improve productivity hence improving the social and economic lives of the individual employees and the country at large
  • The systems will contribute to climate change mitigation through reduced greenhouse gases that would otherwise come from using diesel generators alone
  • With a hybrid system, there will be reduced monthly bills as only diesel is used as backup.
