Installation and Commissioning of Solar PV Systems in Grand Kru- Liberia

In the remote and rural region of Grand Kru, Liberia, access to reliable electricity has long been a challenge, with communities often dependent on costly and polluting diesel generators.

Aptech Africa Ltd recently designed, supplied, installed, commissioned, and provided training for solar photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of 28 kWp at the Country Service Center in Grand Kru site. It was a roof-mounted solar PV system consisting of 545 Wp of risen PV panels and a 67.2 kWh battery bank featuring 4.8 kWh Pylontech Li-ion batteries. An online monitoring system was also installed.

The installed system aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions associated with conventional energy consumption at Country Service Center in Grand Kru site and provide reliable power to the building during working hours, contributing to sustainable energy practices and ensuring uninterrupted operational efficiency. The system will benefit more than 100 people that reside in the area. With its new solar energy system, Grand Kru is no longer held back by power shortages or the high costs of diesel generators. The region is now equipped with the tools it needs to thrive and grow, from enhanced educational opportunities to improved healthcare services and a more robust local economy. As the community begins to experience the benefits of clean, renewable energy, the future looks bright for Grand Kru
