Samoa Multi-Country Office Solar PV System

Aptech Africa is excited to announce the successful installation of a solar photovoltaic (PV) system in Samoa, supporting the country’s efforts to transition to clean and renewable energy. Samoa, like many island nations, has long faced challenges related to energy security, with high dependence on imported fuels.

Aptech Africa supplied, designed, installed and commissioned a 26kWp roof mounted system in Samoa. The system was Grid tied and worked alongside a 200kva generator. Jinko Solar modules were used and a Huawei 25kw inverter. Fusion solar online monitoring system was used that enables collection of real time information. This solar PV system is expected to have a long-lasting impact on Samoa’s energy sector. With a cleaner, more sustainable power source the country is expected to benefit from- Improved energy access for communities and businesses, reduced greenhouse gas emissions contributing to climate action, enhanced energy security reducing vulnerability to fuel price fluctuations and general economic growth opportunities

Thanks to the team of experienced engineers and technicians from Aptech Africa, the system will benefit more than 50 people by providing sustainable power supply during working hours and supplement the grid. The system will also ensure reduction in the costs of the grid. A few challenges like different working hours between Uganda and Samoa since there is a 10hr time difference which created a challenge in effective supervision but this was overcome. Furthermore, local technicians have been trained to maintain and manage the systems, ensuring that the benefits of this project extend for years to come. The users were also trained on the maintenance of the system and its benefits.
