SOLARIZATION OF BUILDINGS IN UGANDA

In a testament to our mission to provide access to clean electricity and water to improve people’s lives, Aptech Africa installed and commissioned four systems to improve education and health services. The students in Kasese district needed the power to read at night, teachers needed power for charging their phones and laptops and to ensure good hygiene in schools, they needed to use the system to trim off students’ hair.

The system also promotes good health services in the nearby hospital by providing reliable lighting and powering critical health equipment to save lives of different patients, especially mothers and babies.

The project located in Kasese district consists of four standalone systems, each of different sizes; Kasanzi PS- 2.7Kwp, Maghoma PS- 2.16Kwp, Mbata Primary School- 2.70Kwp and Buhuhira HC IV- 3.24Kwp. The battery storage size and inverter capacity for all the four systems is 10.2kWh and 3.5kW respectively. The panels are roof mounted.

Poor roads along the steep slopes of Kasese made it difficult to transport materials and personnel to sites. Internal wiring had not been done in the school, which made it difficult to meet the client’s request for sockets in the classrooms.

However, despite the above challenges, Aptech managed to transport the material to the site and install sockets in the classrooms. Over 100 people per school are expected to benefit from the installation in the school and over 50 people will benefit from the installation in the hospital.
